Forgotten Friends

This collection is a nod to the simple nature of childhood friendship.

Something I admire about kids is how easily they make new friends. I’ve developed a similar approach to meeting new people in the wild.

This one time, I met a fellow mom at the thrift store. A couple of genuine compliments later, and we exchanged numbers. We both acknowledged that the encounter was a tad unusual, but we were both excited about the prospect of a new pal. We were kindred spirits, and we both knew it.

I don’t remember her name…

Life happened, and we never saw each other again, despite trying to make plans. I have a good collection of kindred spirits that came and went like a leaf floating down a stream… dang, that’s cheesy, but that’s honestly how it feels. Such a beautiful leaf in a beautiful creek, their path was not mine to join, but for a moment.
